Info for next weekend’s 7C commencement ceremonies

Students from the Claremont Colleges graduate next weekend. Here’s a rundown of ceremonies by date.

Saturday, May 16
Claremont Graduate University
Claremont Graduate University holds its 99th commencement at 9 a.m. at Mudd Quadrangle, 800 N. Dartmouth Ave. The honorary degree recipient and keynote speaker is Adrienne Konigar Macklin, a retired administrative law judge and attorney who provided counsel to school districts, governmental agencies, and higher education bodies. The alumni speaker is Juanita Dawson, director of cybersecurity and compliance at Raytheon Technologies. The student speaker is MaryAnn Ngozi Obidike, a graduate scholar from Imo State, Nigeria completing her Doctor of Public Health degree. Biographies are at cgu.edu. Pitzer College
The Stephen L. Glass Commencement Plaza, 1050 N. Mills Ave., hosts Pitzer College’s 62nd commencement at 10 a.m., followed by the free and public president’s reception at noon. Political activist, professor and author Angela Y. Davis is the keynote speaker. Seating is open for this non-ticketed event. See pitzer.edu/commencement-2026 for schedule and livestream info.

Claremont McKenna College
Claremont McKenna College’s 78th commencement ceremony begins at 2 p.m. at Pritzlaff Field, 500 E. Ninth St., Claremont. A reception for graduates and families is set for 4 p.m. at neighboring Parents Field. This year’s commencement speakers include former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty, a 2002 CMC grad and a member of its board of trustees. Both recently began The Richmond Project, “a philanthropic organization in the United Kingdom determined to break down barriers to numeracy across all ages,” according to a news release. Tickets are not required and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The ceremony will be livestreamed at cmc.edu. Keck Graduate Institute
Keck Graduate Institute students will walk across the Gardiner W. Spring Auditorium’s stage, at 1245 N. Euclid Ave., Ontario, for the institute’s 2 p.m. commencement, its 24th. Keynote speaker Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, founder and executive chairperson of Biocon Limited, a biopharmaceutical company based in India, will receive an honorary doctorate. Doors open at 1 and guests must present a QR-coded ticket. Additional info is at student.kgi.edu/student-affairs/commencement.

Scripps College
Scripps College’s 96th commencement gets underway at 5 p.m. at Elm Tree Lawn, 385 E. Ninth St., with an in-person livestream running at Balch Auditorium. A 21+, ticketed dinner and dance follows in nearby Jaqua Quadrangle at 7:30. Graduates provided a guest list to officials, and guests were required to register for events by Tuesday due to capacity limits. Writer and filmmaker Catherine Schetina, a 2014 Scripps grad, will deliver the keynote address. Visit scrippscollege.edu/commencement for livestream info and schedule of events.

Sunday, May 17
Pomona College
Pomona College’s 133rd commencement begins at 10 a.m. at Marston Quadrangle, west of Bridges Auditorium at 333 N. College Way. Tickets are not required, but attendees are encouraged to register at pomona.edu/commencement/rsvp. Keynote speakers, who will also be conferred honorary degrees, are Daniel Ziblatt, class of 1995, the Eaton Professor of Government at Harvard University and director of the university’s Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies; Goodwin Liu, an associate justice of the California Supreme Court; and humanitarian volunteer Jane Olson. Harvey Mudd College
Entry is free to Harvey Mudd College’s 68th commencement ceremony at 1:30 p.m. at Mudd Quadrangle, 800 N. Dartmouth Ave. The keynote speaker is space scientist and higher education leader Laurie Leshin. A livestream and schedule of events are at hmc.edu/commencement.
