Sunday, March 15
Claremont Police Department officers questioned a 25-year-old Los Angeles woman at 11:05 p.m. after allegedly seeing her inhale from a balloon near Indian Hill Boulevard and American Avenue. Police say they saw a nitrous oxide tank beside her, and she was arrested for misdemeanor possession of nitrous oxide and public intoxication. She was transported to CPD, booked, held for detoxification, and released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.
Monday, March 16
At 1:54 a.m., a license plate reader camera informed CPD that a stolen car was in the city. Police pulled the driver over at Foothill Boulevard and Towne Avenue, and questioned the 53-year-old Los Angeles woman. She was subsequently arrested, charged with felony grand theft auto and possession of a stolen vehicle and misdemeanor driving on a suspended license. She was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and later released with a citation to appear in court. The car was impounded.
After firefighters extinguished a blaze near the 210 Freeway and Towne Avenue onramp at 12:11 p.m. and arson investigators determined it was set intentionally, police questioned a 48-year-old Pomona man witnesses reported seeing walking away from the scene. A records check showed a felony parole violation warrant, and a search allegedly turned up a fire-starting device. He was arrested for felony arson and the warrant, transported to CPD, booked, and later taken to the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles to be held for court.
Police responded to reports of two people arguing at a residence in the 700 block of Baylor Avenue at 8:50 p.m. Officers determined an altercation had taken place and arrested a 50-year-old Claremont man for misdemeanor domestic violence. He was transported to CPD, booked, and transferred to the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles to be held for court. He was released March 18 pending further investigation.
Tuesday, March 17
Witnesses told police a woman was hitting a man in the 500 block of West First Street at 11:18 p.m. Arriving officers questioned the pair, determined an altercation had taken place, and arrested a 50-year-old Pomona woman for felony domestic violence and misdemeanor battery. She was transported to CPD, booked, and released on bond.
An employee at Stater Bros., 1055 W. Foothill Blvd., called police at 6:18 p.m. to report an alcohol theft. Arriving officers questioned a 23-year-old La Verne man and a search allegedly yielded the stolen alcohol. The man was arrested for misdemeanor petty theft, transported to CPD, booked, and released with a citation to appear in court.
Friday, March 20
CPD stopped a driver for vehicle code violations at 11 p.m. near Foothill Boulevard and Towne Avenue. A records check of the 61-year-old Pomona resident found he had not kept up-to-date with his sex offender registration status. After field sobriety tests he was arrested for felony failing to register as a sex offender and misdemeanor DUI. A records check of his passenger, a 34-year-old Pomona woman, revealed a misdemeanor Pomona PD warrant, leading to her arrest as well. Both were transported to CPD and booked. The man was held for court and released March 24. The woman was taken into custody by Pomona PD.
Sunday, March 22
Neighbors reported yelling and glass breaking at a residence in the 1400 block of Wells Avenue at 11:19 p.m. Arriving officers determined an altercation had occurred and arrested a 48-year-old Claremont man for misdemeanor domestic violence. He was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and held for court. He was released the following day pending further investigation.
Reports of an 11:31 a.m. disturbance at Himalayan Collection, 272 W. Second St. prompted police to question a man and woman nearby. Officers determined an altercation had occurred and the woman had attempted to flee but was physically restrained by the 50-year-old Claremont man. He was then arrested for felony domestic violence and false imprisonment then transported to CPD where he was booked and held for court. He was released on bond later that afternoon.
