Friday, June 5
Claremont Police Department officers attempted to stop a motorist for moving violations at 12 a.m. but were allegedly cut off by another driver. The officers then successfully pulled over both drivers near Pepper Tree Square shopping center at 328 S. Indian Hill Blvd.: the first, a 31-year-old San Bernadino woman, and the second a 30-year-old West Covina man who allegedly interfered with the initial traffic stop. Both drivers were subsequently arrested for misdemeanor DUI. After a search of the man’s car allegedly yielded a handgun, police said he made an unsuccessful attempt to flee. In addition to DUI, he was also charged with misdemeanor being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, and resisting arrest. Both were then transported to the Claremont jail. After detoxification the woman was released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court. The man was held for court.
Sunday, June 7
Police responded to Chevron/McDonald’s, 860 S. Indian Hill Blvd., at 1:26 a.m. on reports of a person asleep at the wheel of a car in the drive-thru. Arriving officers alleged the driver, a 39-year-old Rialto man, was impaired. There was also a 9-year-old child in the backseat. The man was arrested for misdemeanor DUI and child endangerment. Officers transported the man to CPD where he was booked and held for detox. The child was picked up by a family member.
Monday, June 8
Police responded to Pomello Drive and Mills Avenue at 7 p.m. on reports of two people arguing. Arriving officers said a 27-year-old Los Angeles man struck a woman repeatedly and, after a records check, was found to be in violation of a restraining order she had against him. The man was arrested for felony domestic violence and misdemeanor violation of a court order, transported to CPD, booked, and held for court. The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Wednesday, June 10
Police stopped a 35-year-old Pomona bicyclist for vehicle code violations at 2:21 a.m. near Indian Hill Boulevard and Cobblestone Lane in Pomona. A search of the man’s backpack allegedly yielded a narcotics pipe, and he was arrested for misdemeanor being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of unlawful paraphernalia. He was then transported to CPD, booked, and held for detox. He was later released with a citation to appear in court.
Officers responded to College Park, 100 S. College Ave., at 9:12 a.m. on reports of a person verbally harassing parkgoers. A records check of the 27-year-old Los Angeles woman returned a misdemeanor LAPD warrant, and a search allegedly turned up methamphetamine and a narcotics pipe, leading to her arrest for the warrant and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and unlawful paraphernalia. She was transported to CPD, booked, and released with a citation.
Thursday, June 11
An employee at Norms, 807 S. Indian Hill Blvd., called police at 11:53 p.m. to report patrons had left without paying their bill. Arriving officers attempted to question a 44-year-old Pomona woman but say she refused to comply. After the employee confirmed the woman was part of the group alleged to have skipped out on their bill, police arrested her for misdemeanor defrauding an innkeeper and resisting arrest. A records check revealed misdemeanor warrants from Pomona PD and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, leading to additional charges. She was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and released with a citation.
Friday, June 12
CPD officers questioned a 41-year-old Pomona man at Mallows Park, 520 N. Indian Hill Blvd., at 3:47 a.m. A search of his backpack allegedly found fentanyl and methamphetamine and he was arrested on two counts of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and transported to CPD. There a records check showed prior drug-related convictions, and felony possession of controlled substance with two or more priors was added to his charge list. He was then booked and held for court.
