Police Blotter: May 15, 2026

Friday, May 1

Claremont Police Department officers arrived at Foothill Boulevard and Towne Avenue at 11:20 p.m. on reports of a driver asleep at the wheel. After questioning the 32-year-old Riverside man and administering sobriety tests he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. During a search officers allegedly found him to be in possession of non-prescription pills, adding misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance to his charges. He was transported to CPD, booked, held for detoxification, and released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.

 

Sunday, May 3

Police attempted to pull over a man on an electric bicycle for equipment violations near Foothill Boulevard and Sumner Avenue at 12:30 a.m. but he took off, leading them on a short pursuit that ended in the 300 block of E. Foothill Blvd. A subsequent search of the 46-year-old La Verne man allegedly yielded methamphetamine and a narcotics pipe. He was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance with priors, and misdemeanors resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of unlawful paraphernalia. He was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and held for court.

An automated license plate recognition camera notified CPD of a stolen vehicle near Amador Street and Towne Avenue at 3:15 a.m. Police stopped the driver, a 47-year-old San Bernardino County man, at Foothill Boulevard and Dewey Way in Upland. He was arrested for felony grand theft auto and possession of a stolen vehicle, transported to CPD, booked, and released with a citation.

A victim called police at 6:01 p.m. to report their camera bag, which contained a tracking device, had been stolen 20 minutes earlier from the 800 block of Columbia Avenue. Police located the bag at El Barrio Park, 400 Claremont Blvd., and questioned nearby witnesses but made no arrests. An investigation is ongoing.

Police responded to reports of a car striking a fire hydrant on Williams Avenue at 11:20 p.m. Officers tracked the vehicle to a residence in the 2400 block of Cedar Avenue in La Verne. They then questioned a 30-year-old La Verne man, and allege he had been driving the car in question and was impaired during at the time of the crash. He was arrested for misdemeanor DUI and hit and run, transported to CPD, booked, and later released with a citation.

 

Wednesday, May 6

A person near the 300 block of Platt Boulevard called police at 12:52 p.m. to report that checks they expected to receive via U.S. Mail had been stolen. An investigation is ongoing.

Calls about a man under the influence drew CPD to the 100 block of Yale Avenue at 8:45 p.m. Police said the suspect was argumentative, walked away during questioning, and struggled while being detained, resulting in an officer receiving minor injuries. The 30-year-old Upland man was subsequently arrested for felony assault on a police officer and misdemeanor public intoxication, transported to CPD, booked, and held for court. He was released May 9 and is due back at Pomona Superior Court on July 13.

 

Thursday, May 7

Police received a stolen vehicle report from the 100 block of S. Indian Hill Boulevard at 11 p.m. They later located the car at a residence in the 1600 block of E. Holt Avenue in Pomona and questioned the occupants. Police arrested the driver, a 20-year-old Azusa woman, for felony vehicle theft and taking someone else’s vehicle without their consent, and later added misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance after a search allegedly yielded methamphetamine. The passenger, a 44-year-old San Dimas man, was searched and allegedly found with narcotics and a pipe, leading to his arrest for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and unlawful paraphernalia. Both were transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and released with citations.

 

Friday, May 8

A bus driver called police to report a white truck with a tailgate modification had hit their vehicle and took off at 12:29 p.m. near Indian Hill Boulevard and San Jose Avenue. An investigation is ongoing.
