Thursday, April 16
Claremont Police Department officers stopped a cyclist for equipment violations at Foothill Boulevard and Sumner Avenue at 10:45 p.m. A records check of the 58-year-old Pomona man returned misdemeanor and felony CPD warrants, and a search allegedly yielded a narcotics pipe. He was arrested for the warrants and misdemeanor possession of unlawful paraphernalia, transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.
Saturday, April 18
A woman called CPD at 12:21 p.m. to report her wallet had been stolen at a shopping center on the 500 block of W. Foothill Boulevard and her credit cards were being used in Montclair. An investigation is ongoing.
At 10 p.m., police were called to Insomnia Cookies, 101 N. Indian Hill Blvd., on reports of a man under the influence in the business. Arriving officers said the 34-year-old Los Angeles man was under the influence of a controlled substance, and he was arrested for the misdemeanor, transported to CPD, booked, and held for detoxification before being released with a citation to appear in court.
Wednesday, April 22
Police stopped a driver for equipment violations near Towne and Bonita avenues at 1 a.m. A records check of the 49-year-old driver showed he was driving on a suspended license due to a previous DUI, and a search of the car found he was also driving without a functioning, court ordered ignition interlock device. A records check of the 44-year-old passenger returned a felony LA County Sheriff’s Department warrant. Both were arrested, transported to CPD, and booked. The driver was released with a citation. The passenger was transported to Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles, where he was held for court.
A person called CPD at 7:26 p.m. to report their car had been burglarized. Missing were the vehicle’s registration card, a garage door opener, and miscellaneous items. An investigation is ongoing.
Thursday, April 23
Police responded to a convalescent home in the 2000 block of N. Towne Avenue at 10:42 a.m. after receiving calls about an altercation between a resident and a staff member. Arriving officers said both parties were uninjured, and since the incident involved a resident suffering from dementia no arrests were made.
CPD received a 1:44 p.m. report that a lock on a unit at Extra Space Storage, 711 S. Mills Ave., had been cut and an unknown amount of property had been stolen. An investigation is ongoing.
Police stopped a driver for equipment violations at 10:30 p.m. near Foothill Boulevard and Towne Avenue. After field sobriety tests the driver, a 53-year-old Alta Loma man, was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. During a search police allegedly found methamphetamine and a narcotics pipe, adding misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and unlawful paraphernalia to his charge list. He was transported to CPD, booked, held for detox, and released with a citation.
Sunday, April 26
Officers at Claremont Heights Shopping Center, 550 E. Base Line Rd., questioned a 61-year-old Ontario man they allege had an open alcoholic beverage. A records check returned three misdemeanor San Bernardino County warrants and he was arrested, transported to CPD, booked, and released with a citation to appear in court.
