Two Claremont High School students were among the winners at the 17th annual Artistic Discovery Congressional Art Competition May 9 at the Hilton Hotel in Arcadia.

“As the years stack up and I am ever more grateful for my many blessings, there is increasing meaning to be found in relationships that have stood the test of time, distance, and trauma. Life has become more precious, and these moments that may have passed without acknowledgement in my younger days — like Monday night with Collin at Dodger Stadium — are deeply cherished. I think they call it being “in the moment,” and I’m on the hunt for as many moments as I can find while I’m still in the game.”

2026 marks the 100th anniversary of the fabled highway, forever commemorated in songs, novels, TV, travelogues, and our memories. Route 66 will be celebrated in a number of ways in Claremont. The city will dedicate a Route 66 centennial commission monument sign in June and install new Route 66 signage and pavement markings. Claremont Cars and Coffee and Claremont Heritage will host a special Route 66 Revisited car show on June 20.
