Police Blotter: May 29, 2026

Friday, May 15

Claremont Police Department officers responded to 9:30 p.m. calls about a suspicious person near Foothill Boulevard and Towne Avenue. A records check of the 34-year-old Los Angeles woman revealed a misdemeanor San Bernardino County warrant. During a search she was allegedly found to be in possession of methamphetamine, adding misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance to her charge list. She was arrested and transported to CPD jail, where in a pre-booking search she was allegedly found to be in possession of a meth pipe, adding bringing drugs into a jail, a felony, and misdemeanor possession of unlawful paraphernalia to her charge list. She was booked and later transported to West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, where she was held for court.

 

Sunday, May 17

Officers responded to the 800 block of S. Indian Hill Boulevard at 5:38 a.m. on a report of a stolen car. Police said the vehicle was later spotted in Chino. The following day, Chino and Claremont PD tracked a suspect, a 27-year-old Pomona man, to Motel 6, 840 S. Indian Hill Blvd., Claremont, and arrested him for felony vehicle theft and petty theft with priors. He was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and held for court. He was released on bond May 21. The stolen vehicle has not been recovered.

 

Monday, May 18

Claremont police stopped a 46-year-old Pomona man for equipment violations at 2:30 a.m. near Monte Vista Avenue and the 10 Freeway. A records check showed he was driving on a suspended license due to a prior DUI. A search of his car allegedly found methamphetamine, and he was arrested for misdemeanor driving on a suspended license and possession of a controlled substance. He as then transported to CPD, booked, and held for detoxification before being released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.

 

Tuesday, May 19

CPD received multiple 9:20 a.m. calls about a damaged car driving near Padua Avenue and Base Line Road. Officers located the vehicle in the 3100 block of Padua and spoke with the driver, a 41-year-old Long Beach man. Police allege the man was impaired and arrested him for misdemeanor DUI and being under the influence of a controlled substance. At CPD he refused to provide a chemical sample. After a court order was issued, he continued to refuse, adding misdemeanor violation of a court order to his charge list. He was booked and later transported to the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles.

Police were called to the 100 block of S. College Avenue at 4:10 p.m. on a report of an assault. Arriving officers investigated and allege a 59-year-old Claremont man hit a person in the face with a rock during an altercation. He was arrested for felony assault with a deadly weapon, transported to CPD, booked, and later transported to the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles. The victim was treated at the scene.

 

Friday, May 22

Police stopped a driver for equipment violations near Towne Avenue and Amador Street at 12:14 a.m. A records check of the 29-year-old Los Angeles man showed he was driving on a suspended license due to a previous DUI conviction and had an outstanding misdemeanor LAPD warrant. A search of his car also found he was driving without a court ordered ignition interlock device, and he was arrested for the three misdemeanor charges of driving on a suspended license, without an  interlock system, and on the warrant. He was transported to CPD, booked, and released with a citation to appear in court.

Police were called to the 100 block of S. Mills Avenue at 11:14 a.m. on a report of stolen irrigation valves. An investigation is ongoing.

 

Saturday, May 23

Police stopped a 50-year-old Pomona woman for equipment violations at Towne Avenue and Arrow Highway at 10:50 p.m. A records check returned a misdemeanor Claremont PD warrant and an inspection of her car allegedly found false registration tags. She was arrested for the tags and the warrant. Police say a male passenger gave them a false name before revealing his true identity as a 22-year-old Pomona resident. After a records check found a felony Pomona PD warrant, he was arrested for the warrant and misdemeanor giving false ID to peace officer. Another passenger, a 36-year-old Pomona woman, was also arrested after a records check returned a felony La Verne PD warrant. All three were transported to CPD. A pre-booking search of the driver allegedly turned up methamphetamine, and felony bringing drugs into jail and possession of a controlled substance with priors and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance were added to her charge list. The 22- and 36-year-old were picked up by Pomona and La Verne police, respectively. The driver was held for court.

 

Monday, May 25

A person phoned police at 5:15 p.m. to report their car had been burglarized sometime between 2:30 and 5:15 p.m. at the Packing House parking structure at 470 W. First St. An investigation is ongoing.
