Claremont Police Department officers stopped a 46-year-old Whittier man for moving violations near Base Line and Live Oak Canyon roads at 1:15 a.m. and arrested him for misdemeanor DUI. He was transported to CPD, booked, held for detoxification and later released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.
Tuesday, June 2
Police responded to 4:30 p.m. reports of people smoking out of a glass pipe at Blaisdell Park, 440 S. College Ave. Arriving officers said a 45-year-old Claremont man was under the influence of a controlled substance and he was arrested on the misdemeanor charge. A records check of a 58-year-old Adelanto man revealed a felony Riverside County warrant for a post release community supervision violation, and he was also arrested. Both were transported to CPD and booked. The Claremont resident was released with a citation to appear in court. The Adelanto man was taken to Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside, where he was held for court.
Wednesday, June 3
Police responded to a hedge trimmer theft report at Annhurst Avenue and Mansfield Drive at 11:25 a.m. The trimmer, valued at $600, was stolen between 9 and 10 a.m. after thieves cut a lock on a trailer container. An investigation is ongoing.
CPD responded at noon to a report of people loitering at the former Greyhound bus station at 888 S. Indian Hill Blvd. A search of a 38-year-old Pomona man allegedly yielded a narcotics pipe, and a records check returned four misdemeanor warrants from San Bernadino County and one from Pomona PD. He was arrested for the warrants and misdemeanor possession of unlawful paraphernalia. A records check of a 53-year-old Chino man showed a misdemeanor San Bernadino County warrant, and he was also arrested. Both were transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and released with citations to appear in court.
Neighbors reported hearing a woman yelling at 11:30 p.m. and informed police about a possible domestic violence incident at a residence in the 4000 block of N. Garey Avenue. Arriving officers questioned a man and woman, determined an altercation had allegedly occurred in front of a child, and arrested a 43-year-old Claremont man for felony domestic violence and misdemeanor child endangerment. He was transported to CPD, booked, and later released on bail. The woman was treated and released at the scene.
Thursday, June 4
CPD officers set up a $1,300 “bait bike,” a bicycle equipped with a hidden tracking device, at the Metrolink station, 200 W. First St. Police were notified it had been stolen at 1 a.m. and tracked it to Indian Hill Boulevard and Green Street. A search of the rider, a 47-year-old Rancho Cucamonga man, allegedly yielded burglary tools, and he was arrested for felony grand theft and receiving stolen property, and misdemeanor possession of burglary tools. He was then transported to CPD, booked, and released with a citation to appear in court.
Friday, June 5
Police stopped a 47-year-old Pomona bicyclist for equipment and moving violations at 1:46 a.m. near First Street and Harvard Avenue. A records check showed a misdemeanor LA County warrant and prior drug convictions. During a search, he was allegedly found with methamphetamine and a narcotics pipe, leading to his arrest for the warrant, felony possession of controlled substance with priors, and misdemeanor possession of unlawful paraphernalia. He was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and held for court.
Officers stopped a 47-year-old National City man for equipment violations near Towne and Harrison avenues at 2 a.m. and allege he and his passenger, a 34-year-old Los Angeles woman, were uncooperative. A search of the driver allegedly found him in possession of a narcotics pipe, a “substantial amount” of methamphetamine, and a digital scale, and a records check revealed a misdemeanor LA County warrant. He was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance for sale and possession of a controlled substance with priors, misdemeanor resisting arrest and possession of unlawful paraphernalia, and the warrant. CPD said the woman was arrested for misdemeanor being under the influence of a controlled substance and resisting arrest. Both were transported to CPD and booked. The woman was released with a citation and the man was held for court.
A resident in the 1900 block of Frostburg Circle called CPD at 11:09 a.m. to report his wife’s catalytic converter had been stolen. Police reviewed footage and determined the theft occurred at 4:52 a.m. An investigation is ongoing.
Police responded to 7:30 p.m. calls about a person throwing a bottle and a rock at a car on Indian Hill Boulevard and First Street. Arriving officers searched a 65-year-old Gardena man and allegedly found a narcotics pipe. He was arrested for felony throwing a substance at a vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism, and misdemeanor possession of unlawful paraphernalia. He was transported to the Claremont jail where police say he was verbally abusive and spat on officers, leading to additional charges of felony assault on a police officer and misdemeanor battery on a peace officer combined with a hate crime. He was booked and later taken to the Inmate Reception Center in LA to be held for court.
