Claremont Fastpitch’s 10- and 14-year-old All-Star teams are headed to state championship tournaments.
“I don’t know when the last time a 10U team for Claremont has ever qualified for states, if that’s ever happened, but it’s just been a pretty historic run for them, in recent memory at least,” said 10U assistant coach Kristin Hobbs, whose children Cameron and Sidney play on the team.

The 10U team (13-6) will face Irvine Silver Blue at 9:45 a.m. Friday at the Big 8 Softball Complex in Lancaster. If they prevail they will face the winner of the 1:15 p.m. Bonita Valley Bronze vs. Glendora Silver game. A loss will send the team into the double elimination bracket against a TBD opponent at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, June 27. Brackets are at tourneymachine.com, search “2026 C State Championship.”
The 10s roster includes Cameron and Sidney Hobbs, Madelyn Edwards, Cora Spinrad,
Lily Estrada, Ella Reilly, Alyssa Gayosso, Ava Miano, Brooklyn Araujo, Avery Bawek-Diorio, Penny Rodriguez, Mackenzie Ward, and Arianna Devora.
The 14s (9-7-3) are in the B State Championship, which will take place in Irvine and Tustin July 3-5. Their draw has yet to be released at tourneymachine.com.
The team, made up of players from Claremont Fastpitch, Upland Hilltoppers, and junior varsity players from Claremont High, includes Addie Smith, Alex Zambrano, Alisa Bojorquez, Aliyah Wilson, Annette Hurtado, Bella Sepulveda, Dylan Roman, Emily Tario, Franny Alari, Khloe Limon, Maddie Moreno, and Sophia Franco.
“The team’s pretty excited. This is a good group of girls that actually work better together than any I’ve seen,” said 14U head coach Jonathan Roman. “I want to say this is the first time that Claremont and Upland have merged together and had a successful team as well as they’ve done so far, so that’s pretty cool.”
To get to the state tournament, teams had to finish in the top four earlier this month at the Eastern C District tournament. The 10-year-olds finished second, the 14s fourth.
In that tournament the 10s beat Rancho Cucamonga ACE Silver, 10-5, and Upland Silver, 22-4 on June 12; Norco Silver, 5-0 on June 13; and Orangecrest Silver, 4-3, on June 14. They then suffered back-to-back losses against Orangecrest Silver, 10-5 and 5-1, later in the day on June 14.
The 14s beat Menifee, 16-1 on June 12; lost to Moreno Valley Diamond, 16-4, on June 13; bounced back with a 6-5 win over Orangecrest on June 14, then lost to Jurupa, 11-3, later on that day.
