Fourth of July in and around Claremont

Here’s how Claremont and surrounding cities will celebrate the Fourth of July.

Claremont

Claremont’s morning festivities take place at Memorial Park, 840 N. Indian Hill Blvd., beginning with the Kiwanis Club of Claremont’s pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m.

Sunrise Rotary Club’s children’s 1K is set for 7:30 a.m., followed by the Freedom 5K at 8, both starting at Memorial Park. Sign up at runsignup.com/races, search “Claremont Freedom 5K.”

A 10 a.m. flag raising ceremony signals the start of the festival at Memorial Park, which runs until 1 p.m. Speakers will begin at 10:15 a.m. at the T. Willard Hunter Speakers Corner, running until 11:30. The city’s honorees will be recognized at noon, and the parade begins at 1 p.m., heading south from the park down Indian Hill Boulevard, east on Harrison Avenue and terminating at Larkin Park. This year’s grand marshal is Gary Goltz. Jack Mills is the honored citizen, and Active Claremont the honored community group.

Tickets are $15 for the 9 p.m. fireworks show at Pomona College’s Strehle Track, 522 N. Mills Ave. Gates open at 6:30. Pop Vinyl performs at 6:45. Tickets are available at the Hughes Center, 1700 Danbury Road, and at claremontca.gov/4th-of-july.

 

La Verne

La Verne Methodist Church’s annual 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. pancake breakfast opens the city’s Independence Day activities at 3205 D St.

A motorcycle ride starts at 9:45 a.m., followed by the parade at 10. Both begin at D and 10th streets. The route is at cityoflaverne.org. The grand marshal is La Verne’s replica of the Liberty Bell, housed outside La Verne City Hall.

Tickets are $5-$20 at laverneca.gov/416/4th-of-july for the fireworks show at Bonita High School, 3102 D St., La Verne. Gates open at 6 p.m., and the Silverados will perform ahead of the fireworks, which will start at 9. Children 4 and under are free.

 

Ontario

Ontario’s parade begins at 9 a.m. at Euclid Avenue and Fourth Street, followed by the 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. all-states picnic at 224 N. Euclid Ave., an 11 a.m. Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band performance, and concluding with 8:45 p.m. drone and 9 p.m. fireworks shows at Westwind Park, 2455 E. Riverside Dr.

 

Rancho Cucamonga

Tickets are $15-$125 at cityofrc.us/events for the 9 p.m. fireworks show at Rancho Cucamonga’s Epicenter Sports Complex, 8408 Rochester Ave. Gates open at 6.

 

Upland

Tickets are $5-$10 at uplandca.gov for Upland’s annual Light Up the Night Fireworks Spectacular, which gets underway at 9 p.m. at Holliday Rock, 1401 N. Benson Ave. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., with pre-show live music by Pop Vision Band. Tickets are also available at Magnolia Recreation Center, 651 W. 15th St.; Gibson Senior Center, 250 N. Third Ave.; Landecena Community Building, 1325 San Bernardino Road; and Upland City Hall, 460 N. Euclid Ave. Visit uplandca.gov for more information.
